Ranine Awwad is a Human Rights Expert and Researcher currently serving as the Environmental Editor at Daraj Media. She has a keen interest in all facets of human rights, particularly their intersection with environmental issues, international law, policy reform, and public participation in decision-making. Recognized for her leadership and commitment, Ranine was awarded the Chevening Scholarship to pursue her master’s degree in International Human Rights Law in the United Kingdom. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from Antonine University in Lebanon.

Ranine has provided high-level consulting services to international stakeholders, research centres, and academic institutions. She served as the Component Leader and Governance Expert for the European Union Delegation to Lebanon/LDK Consultants, where she led the evaluation mission for EU-funded recycling facilities in Lebanon.

Ranine has secured grants, drafted reports, and coordinated impactful projects on waste management, decentralization, local governance, and community engagement. She led workshops engaging youths in formulating projects that emphasized the importance of their participation in decision-making related to healthier solid waste management. She is familiar with compliance mechanisms, third-party relationships, and ‘know your customer’ background checks. She is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.

Ranine’s mission at Daraj Media is to bridge the gap between environmental policy and on-the-ground research while raising awareness about the significance of environmental issues and their impact on communities.
