Sam Kille

Profile

Sam Kille brings more than two decades of nonprofit communications and leadership experience to his role as interim Vice President of Communications. He has secured media coverage with print and broadcast outlets around the world, and has appeared on several national programs, including CNN American Morning; Wake Up With Al; MSNBC Live; FOX News Live; Katie Couric; CBS Early Show; Celebrity Apprentice; Anderson Cooper Live; and Wall Street Journal Live. Before joining The GroundTruth Project and Report for America, Kille was the communications director for the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty. Prior positions have included communications manager for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, a grant-making organization that supports post-9/11 impacted veterans; public affairs officer for Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster relief organization; and regional communications director for the American Red Cross in Greater New York, during which he served as the chief spokesperson for the response to Superstorm Sandy. Kille began his professional career as an award-winning military journalist and public affairs specialist in the U.S. Marine Corps. He has a bachelor's degree in public affairs from the State University of New York Empire State College; a certificate in nonprofit development and management from Molloy College; an associate degree in media from Nassau Community College; and studied journalism at the Defense Information School. He resides with his family on Long Island, N.Y.

The GroundTruth Project, home to Report for America and Report for the World, is pleased to announce the selection of Rob Zeaske as its CEO and president, following a national search launched last summer. Zeaske will step into the role on Jan. 23, a return of sorts as he was the nonprofit’s chief operations officer
